Many times the question comes up as to the correct scale to collect  That question can only be answered by the person asking. If a collector has limited space, they may want to closely look at offerings of 1/64th scale ie Matchbox or 1/43rd which are simply amazing.in their available detail and selection.  If displayable room is not a premium, a collector might consider the considerably larger 1/18th scale with all but an unlimited selection to choose from.

The purist may wish to invest in 1/25th scale "Dealer promo" models that were actually produced and sold in the year of that particular edition and primarily constructed of plastic, but sometimes offering a metal frame for more durability as there were variations also sold as toys. There are countless 1/25th scale kits still available and many are still being offered as new releases. However the kits require considerably more time and patience to complete

Later, many of these earlier vintage cars were recreated using new tooling and having far more advanced features but were created in 1/24th scale ie Franklin and Danbury Mint. Heavy, beautiful and astoundingly detailed, these cars have a large following. The downside to these cars are that if they are damaged, they are not as easily repaired as their 1/25th scale counterparts. So again, there is no right scale to collect, nor is there a wrong scale. That determination should be made by the individual.

But possibly what should be addressed is the attitude of collecting. If a person thinks of their collection as an enjoyable past time, which of course it is, they also need to consider that every piece being added is no different than buying additional stock and therefore increasing their portfolio. Consider the fact that collecting is much more fun than purchasing shares in stock and in most cases,  your investment for the higher end collectibles are far more secure!
